So I've been doing better since that last post. I'm actually doing things again, instead of just obsessing over one thing. It's a nice feeling, overall.

....it's weird, I come here with all these ideas about what to post, but when I actually sit down to do it, I can't think of anything interesting to say.

I've been writing again. Just doing 750Words (750words.com) for rambling purposes, mostly. I wrote a tiny bit on the Outpost (my TRON fic) last Saturday, and since then I've been poking at planning out a novel. I've had the idea for a while (almost ten years, actually), but actually figuring out what happens is giving me fits. Also I worry that my characters aren't complex enough and stuff like that. I have no idea what I'm doing, basically, and I don't like it.

I went out of town and visited my brother this past Thursday and Friday. Played Dungeons and Dragons with the group my brother DMs and had a lot of fun. We fought a dragon and managed to win, thank goodness. I wish I could play DnD more often, but I don't know anyone where I live who plays it (I don't know anyone at all where I live, in fact). There's a comic/gaming shop in a little town adjoining my town, but I think they mostly do Magic the Gathering and stuff like that. Meh.

My brother and I also went to see Pacific Rim Uprising yesterday. It wasn't terrible? But at the same time, it just wasn't as awesome as the first one. I feel like it misunderstood the things that made the first one work so well. It also felt like it was two different movies trying to be one movie. I feel like if they'd separated it out and just done two separate movies, it would have worked so much better. I dunno. There were some things I really liked, but it just doesn't have the same spark as the first one.

Oh well.

And now today I'm mostly hanging out. Trying to figure out how to plot this novel I want to write. Resisting the urge to write Pacific Rim fanfic. All kinds of stuff. I think I am definitely going to watch Pacific Rim at some point (I've got the soundtrack on as I write this). I need to get some medicine refilled and taken care of, so I suppose I'd better do that.

Not much else going on with me. Just taking things as they come. We'll see how it goes.

Great to hear from you again, and I'm really glad you're doing better! And yeah, I'm the same way whenever I come to post here; I feel like all my ideas just fly out of my head the second I look at the text box.

I have no idea what I'm doing, basically, and I don't like it. (This is me whenever I've tried to start a longer project, too. So very much.)

I've intentionally kept my expectation for Uprising a little low, since I want to like it if at all possible and super-high expectations could be setting myself up for failure. I'm glad some parts of it worked for you, at least!

Yeah, I'm having so much trouble hammering out the plot of this novel. I know some things that happen, but I don't know much of the middle, and the ending is a complete mystery to me. I've gotten Holly Lisle's plot clinic class, to see if I can't shake some more ideas out of my muse. We'll see how it goes.

I feel like I had my hopes a little too high for Uprising? They were tempered slightly by a couple tweets I saw Thursday night, but it still... didn't quite work for me. The good parts were really quite good, but the rest was just sort of there, if that makes sense. I hope you enjoy it when you see it!

I'm glad you've been feeling more motivated! That's always nice!

And I feel your pain on the novel front - figuring out a plot can be a struggle. (Actually, I find it really hard in fanfic, as well...) Characters can be hard to create, as well. I recently put up a post about creating and developing characters in a DW writing comm here - I don't believe it's member-locked, and some people have been sharing great insight in the comments!

And woohoo for DnD! There's a subreddit dedicated to helping players find games and games find players - mainly online, which I'm not sure you'd be at all interested in, but I figured I'd mention it! (I'm part of an online campaign right now thanks to it, and it's been a blast.)

Too bad about Uprising. I can see where the original Pacific Rim would be hard to live up to... But I love John Boyega, and I just want any movie he's in to be awesome, heh. And I did enjoy the original, so a satisfying sequel would have been nice.

If it's any consolation at all, John Boyega is EASILY the best thing about Uprising. He's about the only one who seems to realize what kind of movie he's in, so he's hugely entertaining.

I'd like to try DnD, though honestly, the couple of times I've done table top RPGs, I kinda sucked. Haha. I did Star Wars and World of Warcraft...Yeah, not so good. But I'd try DnD if anyone actually invited me to do it.

I also tried Vampire: The Masquerade once at a club...REALLY sucked at that.

I've had fun with DnD the two times I've played, though I definitely wouldn't say I was good at it. I'm a terrible improviser.
