and then: KITTEN
Jul. 8th, 2019 09:34 amA series of events that have happened in the last week:
Tuesday Night: We accidentally left the garage door open all night.
Wednesday Morning: My sister, coming to pick up my nieces from an overnight stay, spots a kitten in the garage as she pulls up. She and my dad try to catch said kitten, but to no avail. We leave the garage open most of the day in the hope that the kitten will find its way out.
Thursday Morning: I'm getting ready to leave and run an errand, when I spot the kitten again as I step into the garage. After some doing (and some injuries), we catch the kitten and put it in a pet carrier with some water and food, with the intention of taking it to the vet the next day.
Friday: We end being too busy to take the kitten to the vet. We do find out that kitten is a boy, though.
Saturday: We take the kitten to the vet for shots and things. He's 8 weeks old, and unfortunately our initial plan of giving him to the vet to adopt out isn't going to work. They've got a mom cat and her litter to adopt out at the moment, and they only work on one adoption case at a time. We can't take him to the local Humane Society, either; they're full up with cats.
So we're stuck with an 8 week old kitten for at least another 8 weeks (which is when we can get him fixed). And we're hoping to adopt him out, because we already have five cats, and we really do not need another.
We named him Finn.
He's very cute. [link to picture]
We are currently keeping him in the spare bedroom/my office, which means that when I'm in here to do work, he wants to be Up In My Business, which is... not conducive to getting work done. Alas. I came in here last night to type up something I'd written, and I spent half the time typing just moving him away from the keyboard.
So this is going to be a fun two months.
