I want to say I haven't been up to much, but I've actually been up to quite a lot. None of it's terribly interesting, though, so there's that.
I am basically tired of having busy days, I guess. I would like to have a day where I just stay in and relax, or just do my own thing, or whatever. But I've been all over the place and it's been exhausting, and it doesn't seem like it's going to let up any time soon. Maybe tomorrow. Thursday we're going to Nashville to pick up my Dad at the airport. I don't know after that.
I have been both writing and not writing. I've exceeded the monthly goal for Get Your Words Out, so that's good. I still want to write more, though, and the last couple days have been so busy I haven't had time and augh augh augh.
I'm trying to write flash fiction and probably failing. I wrote a couple pieces over the weekend, but I'm not sure if they're actually any good? So that's great. x__x
I also started yet another knitting project: this Christmas stocking. My grandmother made ones like those for all us kids and my dad, and my great-grandmother made my mother's when she was small. We had my brother-in-law's made to order from somewhere and it's very different than ours. So my mom has commissioned me to make three more for the latest additions to the family: my sister-in-law and my two nieces. I've got the yarn and a version of the pattern from Etsy, it's just a matter of making it.
Making it, unfortunately, involves intarsia knitting, which is a color change method that involves bobbins of yarn, rather than just floating 2-3 colors of yarn across the wrong side like you do in Fair Isle knitting. It is not easy. You end up with lots of active threads getting tangled, and then those getting tangled in the ends from what you've already finished, and I am going to tear my hair out making just ONE of these and aughhhhhh. My mom has told me not to stress out about making it perfect, but my default mode is "IT MUST! BE! PERFECT!" so this is going to end well. I'll be happy if I get one done a year at this rate.
I don't know what else. That's most of what's consuming my brain at the moment.

Date: 2018-01-25 05:42 pm (UTC)Good luck with the stocking. I honestly don't know anything about the color change stuff - Fair Isle or intarsia - but it sounds like tricky stuff, still!
And congrats on getting past goal for GYWO! I hope you find time to write more!

Date: 2018-01-26 12:37 pm (UTC)Thanks for the luck. :) Yeah, color changes in knitting are a PAIN. I'm doing okay-ish with the intarsia but it's still... augh. Sometimes.
Thanks!! I am hoping to write more, but we'll see how that all shakes out.
