NaNoWriMo Day 7
Nov. 7th, 2023 07:38 pmWords (Written Today): 826
Words (Total as of Today): 4533
Mood: Pretty good!! (if still tired...)
Treat: A dessert of some kind, I suppose?
First Line (Written Today): That night, Tron fell asleep uneasily, and his dreams were haunted by his thoughts of the past.
Last Line (Written Today): Only then did he think of the past, and remember what had once been his.
Favorite Line (Written Today): —Tron woke with a sharp inhale. He was laying on his stomach, his face half-buried in his pillow. Logic told him this was the reason for the end of his dream, and that he had been in no danger, but his heart raced anyway. He shoved himself onto his back, pulling the thin blanket away from his sweating skin and flinging it on the floor. The barracks were always cold this time of year, before the warmth of spring truly reached the north, but the cool air felt like a balm to his panic. He panted for a few moments, listening to the soft breathing and snores of the people around him, then closed his eyes and tried to settle himself back into sleep.
He breathed in deeply, held the breath to a count of four, then exhaled. This process he repeated, until he felt the tension begin to fade from his body. His heart slowed its frantic pace, his hands stopped their shaking, and his mind stopped dwelling on the nightmare that had woken him. He breathed calmly and patiently, thinking only of his breath and its steady measured pace, until he at last felt calm enough to start a meditation.
Other Stuff: Not as busy a day today, thank goodness. I wrote my words over two sessions today; one about 40 minutes long, the other about 25. I'm hoping I can repeat this over the next couple of days, if I can? I'm already ahead by a little bit for my 15k goal, but I'd like to squeeze enough of a buffer in there so I can take a break if I need to.
